La-La’s Gourmet Cookies were first created when my family and I competed in our annual holiday cookie-baking contest. Every year, my classic chocolate chip cookies would always take first place. As the winner, I would always receive questions from my family and friends about my cookies, and if I would make them a batch. As time went on, friends, relatives, and others would try to discover the secret recipe to my chocolate chip cookies.
At that moment, I knew I had something special to share with the world. I went from baking them as a hobby to attending food and craft shows such as the “Cranberry Festival” and doing many fundraisers for different organizations. I even sent roughly 3,000 cookies to our soldiers in Iraq around Thanksgiving. I wanted to give them a “little taste of home”. I wanted to see how they would be received; needless to say, they were received very well!! At the beginning of October of 2012, I lost my job, and towards the end of October, I lost my home to Super Storm Sandy. I felt that this was our opportunity to take it to the next level.
